Steps of Orthodontic Treatment<\/h2>\n
While every patient\u2019s experience is unique, the below steps can be expected for patients during their orthodontic therapy.<\/p>\n

- Initial consultation<\/a> and X-rays with our team.<\/li>\n
- Attach brackets and wires to teeth (for traditional dental braces.)<\/li>\n
- Attend visits every six weeks for adjustments or new aligners.<\/li>\n
- Removal of braces when treatment is complete.<\/li>\n
- Continual use of a retainer to keep teeth in alignment.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
Your Child\u2019s Braces<\/h2>\n
Children are best served by traditional metal braces<\/a>, in most cases. Bring your children in for an orthodontic consultation between the age of 7-10. Our children\u2019s orthodontist will determine whether the teeth are properly spaced, the jaw is in alignment, and the upper palate is wide enough to accommodate permanent teeth.<\/p>\n
Young children who need braces, spacers, or a palatal expander will enter Phase 1 Orthodontic Treatment to prepare the mouth for properly spaced and aligned teeth. Treatment time varies for each case, but usually lasts for 6 to 18 months. A retainer should be worn after treatment is completed to maintain alignment.<\/p>\n
Phase 2 Orthodontic Treatment often begins around age 11 or older. Phase 2 Orthodontics focuses on properly aligning permanent teeth and can last, on average, 12 to 20 months.<\/p>\n
